AVON, Ohio — As schools remained closed around Ohio, some kids maybe looking for something to do to pass the time. Whether you’re going or not, how about making your own prom outfit and possibly winning some money in the process.
“It really is the perfect opportunity where everyone is stuck at 湖北快三开奖结果, so why not make a craft or have an activity to give you an opportunity to win,” says Ashley Luke, Senior Product Manager at Duck Tape.
Duct tape is used for a lot of jobs, but Duck Tape maybe the solution to bored teenagers stuck at 湖北快三开奖结果. The Stuck at Prom contest asks teenagers to construct their tuxes and dresses out of Duck Tape, with the potential of a $10,000 scholarship prize. This is the 20th year for the competition, however in years past you had to wear your creation to prom. This year, with many proms postponed, canceled or up in the air, the company isn’t being a stickler for the rules.
Luke says, “It’ll be all virtual. You’ll just upload your photos online and that’ll be how you’ll be judged.”
They’re accepting submissions until June 8th, when a panel of judges will narrow contestants to a top 10 based on originality, creativity and workmanship. Then the public votes to crown, or tape, the winners.
“Everything is made out of Duck Tape, the dresses, the accessories, the tux and the shoes,” says Luke. “The two grand prize winners will win $10,000 each and the runners up win $500 each.”
As far as the competition goes, kids entering have gotten pretty good at taped couture over the years.
Luke says, “Every year, we get submissions where we are zooming in as far as we can and being like, ‘Is this really made out of Duke Tape? Are we sure that this isn’t actually fabric?’”
